Dr Henry McCann, DAOM, is a professional doctor of acupuncture and Oriental medicine with a private practice in Madison, NJ. He was one of the first people in the US to be nationally certified in Oriental medicine (NCCAOM). Dr. McCann is the current President of the New Jersey State Acupuncture Examining Board by gubernatorial appointment, and the former President of the NJ Association for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. He completed a BA and BM at Oberlin College and then pursued graduate studies as a Fulbright Fellow at the University of the Ryukyu (Okinawa, Japan). He trained in Oriental Medicine first at the New England School of Acupuncture and then at the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine where he finished his doctorate in women’s health and geriatric medicine. As part of his doctoral degree Henry completed advanced clinical training at the Chengdu University of TCM (Sichuan, PRC).
Dr. McCann is the author of numerous articles on all aspects of Chinese medicine and Pricking the Vessels, the first English language text devoted to bloodletting therapy. In addition to his clinical practice Henry is committed to bringing Oriental medicine to a higher level by educating professionals in advanced concepts in acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine. He is an experienced teacher who currently is on the faculty of the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in Manhattan.
